Hotel Riva Del Sole

This definitely isn't a four-star hotel. The good points are the location and breakfast. Dinner seemed aimed more at the large groups of German or Swiss tourists than at Italians.

Things were stolen during our stay, and when we reported it, reception was rude and said we must have misplaced them. It was a terrible experience.

The hotel looks nice, the staff were pleasant, and the rooms were clean apart from cobwebs on the lights. The AC worked well and breakfast was good. The location was great too. The beds were uncomfortable: our “matrimonial bed” was two twins pushed together, and there was just one flat, rock-hard pillow per bed with no support. The walls are so thin that hallway noise and housekeeping in the morning carry right through. There’s basically no counter space in the bathroom. The TV is tiny, sometimes loses its signal, and its app store didn’t work, so services like Netflix weren’t usable. Cleaning seemed to mean little more than making the bed. Sand was left on the floor for days, so it didn’t look like anyone vacuumed.

The staff were really friendly, and both breakfast and dinner were very good. We also liked how the rooms and shared spaces, including the dining room and bar, have been newly renovated with great taste. The hotel sits right by a long sandy beach, and it’s conveniently close to both the town and the harbor.
