Case Vacanze Mare Nostrum

The toilet in our cabin was in the condition shown in the photo I’ve included. I also attached a Booking.com listing screenshot alongside a photo from outside the resort fence, which shows how limited the sea view actually is. The description was misleading, despite what the owner says. I’m not surprised by the positive Booking.com reviews, since the owner cancels some guests’ reservations himself. We called Booking customer service, and they told us the owner had cancelled ours. If only satisfied guests get to leave reviews, the consistently positive feedback makes sense. The owner’s replies to guests can be aggressive and confrontational, too. We never said we were happy with the resort. After the first argument, we had no further conversation with the owner and didn’t see him during our stay. I want to warn others again about his unpleasant, aggressive behavior.

I was there for about a month, and the stay was a dream. The area is quiet, and every day a pastry seller comes by in a truck with good breakfast food and bread. Mare Nostrum is right on the beach and has a private pool for guests. It’s between Palermo and Cefalu, so having a rental car makes it a perfect base.

The owners were lovely, friendly, and always ready to help. They made us feel at ease from the start, and shared useful tips on attractions, places to visit, and food to try. They gave us all of that in English, which I really appreciated because my parents don’t speak Italian. My family and I had such a good time in Sicily that we’ll definitely recommend the place to our friends. The villas are clean and well situated, about 200 meters from the sea, where it felt like we had a private beach with so few people around. Having the pool near the house, private parking, a lawn, and a BBQ made it easy to enjoy each day. Thank you again, grazie mille 🤩😊

We went last August, and the listing promised a sea view that simply wasn’t there when we arrived. When we calmly raised it with the owner, he got aggressive and tried to make us leave. We were traveling with a child, so we had no choice but to stay. His behavior was completely unacceptable. We reported the matter to Booking.com, where we had booked. To avoid a bad review, the owner deleted our reservation even though we stayed through the end of the booking. I strongly warn people away from the property, especially because of its rude, aggressive, ill-mannered owner.
