Finding the room was a nightmare. When we arrived, nobody was there to greet us, and we opened several doors by mistake: one led to a bathroom with dirty laundry on the floor, another to the common breakfast room still full of the morning’s leftovers, and another to an unmade room that looked awful. The common areas also smelled musty and stuffy when we arrived, though maybe that’s less noticeable in summer. The building is old and dilapidated. There’s no parking except on a very busy street, and after the entrance there are several flights of stairs that continue inside to the rooms. There’s also a steep ramp leading up to the building as an alternative to the outside stairs. What can I say? This is a nightmare of a place and shouldn’t be included among the area’s accommodation options. They may have built credibility on the booking websites, but I’m also taking action against them for validating such dilapidated properties. Be careful when booking.

The rooms have spectacular views over the Roero vineyards, and there’s plenty of space for our four-legged friends too. It’s a beautiful old villa, well placed for visiting Piedmont’s lovely landscapes. Erica, the owner, is kind and available, and gives the place a homely feel. Breakfast is delicious and has everything you need to start the day. Highly recommended.

Staying in the owners’ rooms made us feel right at home. They’re very polite and friendly. This is a fantastic, private and welcoming B&B in a fascinating part of Turin, where you can discover a less touristy, more authentic side of the city.

I tried to book a weekend in October with a Smartbox, but they rejected the reservation, saying there was no availability. Then I checked Booking.com for those same dates and, magic, the room was available. I don’t understand why they take part in these initiatives if they then stop people from using them. Truly unpleasant tricks.

I want to condemn this behavior, even though I didn’t stay at Villa Valentino. I have an Emotion 3 gift box and booked in July. My reservation for the end of September was confirmed almost right away, then yesterday, two months later, it was suddenly canceled for no reason. That left me rushing to find somewhere else. If you don’t want to work with gift boxes, don’t offer them, but don’t treat your customers this way.
