Hotel 21, less than 200 meters away, serves breakfast in a rooftop dining room. It was excellent, with a wide choice of hot and cold food for both Western and Mediterranean tastes. There’s also a supermarket within walking distance. Turn left as you leave, then take the first right. It’s about 400 meters along on your left, with a small, easy-to-miss entrance. Check your receipt, as overcharging may be common. We stayed in room 302 at Suite Farnese Design, via Alessandro Farnese 8. It may be different in other rooms. The building is in a quiet, smart part of Roma, and many famous sights and local restaurants are an easy walk away. Getting into the apartment takes several steps, but reception is staffed from 8.00 to 1.00 to help anyone who has trouble. The room was large, with a very big bedroom and living area, plus a small but useful bathroom. The old World style furniture includes a corner desk that hides a small fridge, tea and coffee facilities, and a second sofa bed for an extended family. The wallpaper behind the extra large bed has an old Rome look mixed with what looks a bit like early mould. A relatively small amount of money could make the decor much better. The shower is functional, though you may need your wife or a Mensa level IQ to work it. This might sound a little negative, but we’d definitely book this accommodation again. We recommend it.

Our junior suite was spacious, though it could use a bit more care in how it’s furnished. The setup works surprisingly well, and the location makes it easy to reach the Vatican and the historic parts of the city. Getting to the Colosseum by bus is simple too.

They sent us detailed, clear information ahead of time about public transport and the self check-in. The reception staff were helpful, and breakfast is available with a package at the nearby hotel on the corner, just a minute away. Prati felt safe, with plenty of restaurants nearby. It’s one metro stop from the Vatican and five stops from Termini. You can also walk across the river to see more of the city.

The staff were really friendly, and breakfast was good quality with generous portions. There are some great nearby restaurants and bars, mostly filled with locals rather than tourists. The location is peaceful, away from the tourist crowds, but still an easy walk to the Vatican or old town. The rooms aren’t large, though they’re perfectly adequate.

The room was fine for a couple, and they clean it every day. It’s the sort of place to come back to for a rest after a long day or a night out, rather than somewhere for a leisurely stay. It had the basics, including a hairdryer, a safe in the cupboard, a kettle with coffee and sugar packets, toothbrushes, complimentary wine, and a minibar. That was a nice surprise 😃
