Breakfast on the terrace below was a perfect way to begin the day, with views over the lake and piazza. The hotel is cute and tucked into a great lakeside spot, with easy access to the nearby piazza. The room was plain and a bit "spartan," but I suppose that's okay for the price.

The rooms are okay, though getting to them can be a little tricky since they're in a second building. The hotel itself is decent, the staff attentive, and breakfast good.

Breakfast was nice, and the setting for it was especially good, with very kind staff there. The hotel is very nice and in a great location. The hotel staff, though, seemed a bit inflexible and uninterested.

We got there at 8:00 AM and apologized for being early. It was cold and rainy that day, and we had nowhere to go. The receptionist told us to leave the lobby about five times, even though the booking.com app showed plenty of rooms available. He then offered us a room for 80 Euros more per day than the app price, which made us suspicious, so we looked for another hotel. After that, he asked why we were even there, where we had booked, and why. We said it was because he hadn't been nice. He told us to leave again and waved us out. I've never had anything like that happen before.

The rooms have a TV and free Wi-Fi, and the restaurant serves good food. On my return after several years away, I received the good service I remembered. I'd been coming to Il Portico with my family since kindergarten, but we stopped visiting for a while after a death in the family and Covid. The hotel is very clean, reasonably priced, and the staff are helpful. They helped me and my travel companion figure out buses and ferries for day trips.
