Hotel Rex

The breakfast had loads to choose from, including toast, fresh fruit and vegetables, yogurt, pastries, juice, tea, coffee, and it was one of the best I've had in Italy for the room price. A beach lounger and umbrella were included, and the beach was a two-minute walk away. The staff were really friendly. Our room was clean, though neither especially big nor modern, and the bathroom could use a renovation. That may be wear from the salty air near the sea. There's no parking at the hotel, but the garage is an easy walk of about 500 meters. If you're after a spot close to the beach and city center and don't need a fancy room, this is a good fit.

The warm welcome from Clara and Veronika made a real difference during our stay at Hotel Rex. They were kind, helpful, and patient, and their daily smiles added a lot to our experience. When we left, Clara made sure we had breakfast, walked us to the entrance, and gave my daughter a friendly kiss goodbye. The hotel bar coffee was excellent, and drinks were reasonably priced: coffee was 1.20 euros, while a beer, a glass of wine, and an iced tea together cost 8.50 euros. When booking, ask for a fridge if you want one, as it costs 6 euros a day; the extra-large balcony is 9 euros a day. We found the Italian seaside feeling we were hoping for, though compared with our visit to Caorle six years ago, there seemed to be fewer Italian restaurant and bar owners, and most chefs seemed not to be Italian. I hope that trend stops and some of the Italian atmosphere remains. The hotel is very well placed, with everything just a few minutes away on foot. Booking direct through Hotel Rex can get you a better deal. The host provides free parking in a nearby garage, plus free loungers and umbrellas at a designated beach area. The beach itself is a three-minute walk, and the loungers are at most five minutes away. The beach was clean, with free showers, usable toilets, and helpful staff. Our first-floor family connecting room had a very large south-facing balcony and a small west-facing one. The larger room had a comfortable double bed, and the smaller room had bunk beds. Next time I'd ask for the third floor for a sea view. The children's room, with the west-facing balcony, overlooked the hotel's service road and the neighboring hotel's restaurant staff exit. It was a bit noisy until 11 PM, and smoke from neighboring staff came into the room. Breakfast preparations started at 6 AM, and garbage trucks collecting waste separately arrived between 6 and 7 AM. That noise wasn't the hotel's fault and could affect any accommodation nearby. The windows sealed well, and free air conditioning meant it wasn't a major issue. There is some noise to expect with a central location at a good rate. Breakfast was a standard buffet, with freshly squeezed orange and vegetable juice as an extra. The free parking and beach services, location, and overall price worked well for us. We wanted to be near everything without staying in a crowded hotel, and Hotel Rex met our expectations. I'd recommend it. For food, Food Mami is a few minutes' walk away, and Da Mi is affiliated with the hotel. Hotel Rex offers 10% off the total bill at Da Mi.

Never again. Both of our rooms had dusty, dirty floors covered with hair and other bits. It looked as if they hadn't been washed with water or cleaning products, and under the beds the floors hadn't been cleaned either. The balconies were filthy, with cigarette butts, plastic cups, and other rubbish. The balcony windows were dirty too, and there was beach sand in the bed.

The staff were really nice and friendly, but the furniture seemed stuck in the '90s and needs replacing. The beds were short and narrow, and in poor condition. After two nights, I was missing my mattress at home.
