Villa Rosi Residence

The day before we were due to leave, we were told the 45 m2 room we booked through Booking.com, with a bedroom and living room with two futons, wasn't available. After we'd paid through a platform outside Booking.com, the owner offered us a 35 m2 studio for the same price over the phone. When we objected, he said, "Do you want to stay home or go on vacation?" It felt like an ultimatum: take the smaller place or get no refund if we cancelled under the booking terms. Awful.

The pool is beautiful, the spot is peaceful, and there's a lovely sea view. We also had covered parking and the reception and bar staff were really nice and helpful. Porto Azzurro is 3 km away, and Capoliveri is 5 km away. We had a great stay.

The main drawback was the mold in the small shower, and check-out at 9:30 am felt late. Apart from that, we were pretty comfortable during our five nights at Villa Rosi. Our room was very spacious, and the bed looked clean, with a fairly new mattress and fresh, new linens. The pool and bar area were lovely and well kept, with handy opening hours. Lido Capoliveri beach was easy to walk to, and Portoferraio, Capoliveri, and Porto Azzurro were each about a 15-minute drive.

The beaches are about a 10-minute walk away, and there's private sheltered parking. We found the apartment very clean and it had everything except air conditioning, though there was a fan in every room. By the pool, a small bar serves breakfast and aperitifs. Guests can join the Thursday barbecue, and the grill is there to use on other days. There's a big shared area and a little playground for kids.
