Bed and Breakfast Il Castagno

The breakfast was generous, and the rooms were comfortable, nice, and extremely clean. Il Castagno has also been fully renovated recently. Chiara and her mum were polite and kind, and always ready to suggest ways to make the most of a stay in Castiglione dei Pepoli.

We arrived to find that the property said it had no reservation under my name, even though I’d booked five months ahead through Ryanair's Rooms and had received confirmation. We were suddenly left scrambling for somewhere to stay during an international sporting event, in a place that isn’t very busy, so finding another option was especially difficult. The property said not to book through RyanairRooms, while RyanairRooms denied that and confirmed the reservation. I feel both sides showed bad faith and a lack of seriousness. Customer service only emailed to say, “we apologize for the inconvenience,” without explaining the significant harm caused. They also didn’t charge the stay to my card because payment was due at the hotel, but that’s no acceptable excuse. I’ve used Ryanair's Rooms several times at properties in Italy and abroad, and unfortunately I can’t give this place a positive review since I wasn’t able to stay there.

The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well furnished, and the value for money is excellent. Everyone was kind and helpful. Recommended.

There were 12 of us when we booked the whole B&B for New Year's Eve, and we were made to feel very welcome. The rooms are really nice. The only small drawback is that the floors and walls are a bit thin, though you can walk on them easily.
