Alcalà Living Apartments

We had a good stay, and Salvatore was a wonderful host. The place has its own character and is worth a look. We chose it for a workation and needed separate rooms, a kitchen, and at least a dining table to work at. Our first-floor apartment had two bedrooms, one with a desk, plus a kitchen and living room. The internet was stable and worked well. The street is busy, but the windows insulate well, and earplugs help too. Parking took some figuring out, but following Salvatore’s advice, we found a free lot just across the corner. It’s three minutes from Duomo and via Etna, and works well for either a holiday or work.

The owner was so kind and nice, and I loved the taste and style of the place. The location is perfect, just a two-minute walk from the centre. I still remember Teresa’s breakfasts, so don’t miss them. Ask the lovely owner for advice on seafood restaurants, too. Thank you for such a beautiful time!

The B&B is very close to Plazza Duomo and Via Etnea, Catania’s main street, and the fish market is just two minutes away. At night the market area turns into a fancy spot for fish restaurants. Our little apartment had everything we needed, including a toaster, pots and pans, cutlery, kettle, fridge, and washing machine. There was also air conditioning and a TV, though we didn’t use them. The room was cozy, and we enjoyed our coffee on the cute balcony each morning with its beautiful view. Breakfast could be brought to us at whatever time we wanted, with a lady arriving each morning with pastries, probably bought that day. There were quite a lot of ants, but they didn’t bother us too much. We heard some noise from the host or other people in the building during the first two nights, but the next two were peaceful. Our warm, friendly host gave us a map of Catania and great suggestions for restaurants, beaches, and transport to Mount Etna and Siracusa. They also let us check out late, which helped a lot. Finding the entrance was an adventure: it’s a huge old door that’s very difficult to open. Perfecto!

The condo was spacious, clean, and well equipped. It’s a lovely place near the Doumo, the maketplace, and the harbour, with the bus hub just a two-minute walk away. Recommended.
