Art & Jazz Hotel

The area around the hotel is a bit run down, as are large parts of Catania, sadly. Staff were pleasant, especially Misha, I think that was her name, at reception. She went out of her way to help us when we arrived. Breakfast was okay, with the usual hotel choices. Our split-level room had the bedroom up a narrow flight of stairs and the bathroom and wardrobe downstairs. I didn’t find the layout very good, since you’re constantly going up and down, and a trip to the bathroom at night can be more than a little inconvenient. The hotel is very close to Catania Centrale station and the main bus station.

The hotel has a lovely design, and the rooms are spacious and very clean. Staff were lovely and always ready to help, with reception open around the clock. It’s about 20 minutes from the centre and quiet at night.

Everything was great apart from the plumbing noise. When guests upstairs flushed, water rushing through the pipes was very loud and right beside our bed. It may not be like that in every room.

The staff are what make this charming hotel. They were extremely kind, friendly and helpful, and we’re grateful for a lovely stay. The rooms were comfortable and had good air conditioning, and the location is handy, near the train station and within walking distance of the centre. Breakfast was standard Italian fare, tasty, with good coffee.
