Ottomood House Catania

Meeting the apartment owners made our stay in Catania much better and more pleasant. They were unusually charming and kind, and helped us with every question, whether about the apartment or transport, guides, attractions, and more. When a small issue came up in the apartment by chance, they did everything they could to get it sorted quickly and properly. We were glad to meet such caring and responsible people.

The main issue was the service and communication, which got off to a rough and rather unfriendly start. I was meant to receive check-in instructions on arrival day, but nothing came. When I asked about the luggage storage listed as free in our confirmation, the first reply was, “Where did you read that?” I had to send a screenshot before anyone told me where to go. There was also confusion about when the room would be ready. The worst part was that my card was charged before I had even entered the room. A reservation on the card is one thing, but charging it before check-in felt unacceptable to me. After receiving the room codes and details, I expected information about breakfast hours and price in case we wanted it. Instead, I had to ask, and was only told it wasn't included and would cost extra, without the price or how to add it. Maybe I expected too much in the way of friendly service, but that part could improve. The hotel is centrally located with lots of restaurants and other places nearby. The room is small but comfortable, modern, and clean. There are daily cleanings, but no “do not disturb” sign, so staff came in when I wanted to sleep in, which was really annoying. There also aren't nearly enough towel hooks or toilet paper.

We spent a long weekend here. The garden was nice, and the patio was lovely for evenings. Staff were friendly, and the room was good. Guests can use the fridge, and there's free cold sparkling water. It's easy to set off on trips from here and easy to park, but you need a rental car at this location.

We had a comfortable, pleasant stay in this spacious two bedroom apartment, with easy access to the city center. The neighbors were extremely friendly, and the shop owner next door was especially helpful and kind. Everyone we met in Sicily was lovely. We'll be back!
