Livio and his father were warm, gracious hosts. We loved staying in their beautiful palazzo apartment, with its high ceilings and vintage frescoes. There was plenty of room for our family of five, and the modern kitchen and amenities were comfortable. It’s right in Catania’s historic district, among cafes and restaurants, and less than a five-minute walk from the Duomo. Charming and elegant.

The Fish & Fruits Market is right outside the main entrance of Palazzo Arcidiacono, so you step straight into the busy feel of Italian city life. The market winds down around 14:00. We loved being in the middle of it. Inside, the apartment is spacious and full of character. I felt like a princess waking up in a huge sunlit room with beautiful, authentic details. The originally painted ceiling alone is priceless. If you want a taste of what it might have been like to live in central Catania in the 19th century, this is a chance to do that. The beauty, originality, and spirit of the place make it a hidden gem, too. Livio was an amazing host. He answered all our questions, suggested places to eat and go, and where to rent a car. He spoke perfect English and was always available. After travelling around Sicily for a couple of months, I can honestly say he was our best host. Thank you for making our stay so fantastic and memorable! For families, there’s room for the kids to play hide and seek, a Smart TV, a comfortable bath, and a safe setting. They can watch the market crowd from the balcony. The baby cot is new and sturdy, not a travel cot, and there’s a washing machine with a dryer. We’d definitely stay at Palazzo Arcidiacono again if we return to Catania.

Right in the centre of Catania, this beautiful apartment has balconies looking out over the fruit market. The host had great suggestions for whatever we needed during our stay. Highly recommended.

We had a great time on the second floor. The rooms have lovely original details on the walls and ceilings, and the hosts are very helpful, so don’t hesitate to ask them for anything. A good fit for a family or a group of friends.
