Hotel Diplomatic

It was good.

The staff were very friendly, the cleanliness was decent, and the breakfast buffet had plenty of choice. But breakfast is at the hotel next door, and €4 for still water is too much. The €15 daily charge for parking inside seems absurd, even with limited spaces. I think parking should be included in the price. Some things could be changed, and I definitely wouldn't call this a 3-star hotel.

I wasn't satisfied with the service overall, especially for a hotel on the Cervia seafront that presents itself as respectable. The curly-haired blonde woman at the front desk was the exception; the rest of the service left a lot to be desired. Breakfast and the pool were both at the hotel next door. On the second day we had to ask for two missing hand towels, and there were no bathroom glasses for toothbrushes or drinking. The room fridge didn't seem to work. I had to press the plug in firmly, but we didn't use it that day. A half-empty cleaning cart with some dirty items sat outside our door for three days. They charge €15 a day for outdoor parking without supervision, which is more than even airport parking lots charge.

The Diplomatic Hotel sits on the Cervia seafront beside the Universal Hotel, and both belong to the same business partner. Breakfast at the Universal was excellent, and the pool service was good too. Our room was pleasant, though the bathroom could use some updating. Room service fell short: we were missing towels, including in other rooms, and the housekeepers spoke neither Italian nor English.
