Hotel Kursaal

The decor is very dated, though everything was very clean. The price is great, the breakfast isn’t great, and the staff are really friendly and helpful.

Sara and Marco run Hotel Kursaal as a family hotel, and they make you feel at home. They’re warm and ready to help with whatever you need. The service and cleanliness were impeccable, and the food was excellent, with fresh local fish and simple, authentic dishes. Breakfast was excellent too, with cakes and biscuits they made themselves. It was my first stay, and I’ll be back next year. Highly recommended for families with children and older guests, since there’s an elevator.

We liked having books and board games available, and the food was another highlight. We chose half-board and could decide day by day whether to stop in for lunch or dinner. In my view, the kitchen follows a no-waste approach, which I agree with. Other than breakfast, meals aren’t buffets, not even the vegetables. That means you don’t pile up food, and you don’t get yesterday’s leftovers served again in a transformed state, which can affect the quality. I ate really well and never left the table feeling heavy, so my sincere compliments to the chef, whoever they are. The hotel brought back memories of the small hotels and guesthouses I stayed in when I was young. We were specifically looking for a place without a pool, since we prefer going to the beach. It isn’t modern, but it’s very clean, and our room was spacious enough. The area is quiet at night, with little noise, and the sea is still close, about 80-100 meters away.

We found this place a real treat for a family break. It’s only steps from both public and private beach areas, while the town center is about a 10-15 minute walk away, so it’s removed from the noisy nightlife. The staff are always friendly, the food is excellent with generous portions and a good range of dishes, and the rooms are kept clean. There’s also a small fridge in the room, handy for keeping water cold in this heat. We’ll be back!
