The beds had broken springs and folded in half when we sat on them. In the morning, there was a huge pool of water in the lobby from the leaking roof. The bathroom had mold, and the bathtub water was yellow, smelly, and cold. Doors were broken, night lamps looked melted, the radio on the wall seemed to be from the 1950s, the water pressure was poor, and the small old TV had no signal. For an overnight stop on a sightseeing trip, I don't expect much, just warm, clean water, fresh sheets, a clean room, and a roof over my head. This place couldn't even manage that. It should have closed years ago. There's a big difference between a budget hotel and a disgusting one, and everything here was disgusting. Truly a horrible stay.

The welcome was nice, but the hotel was really noisy. The bathroom was strange, with the toilet actually inside the shower, so you could sit on it while washing your hair. Breakfast wasn't good either. It might do for one night, but no longer.

The shower drain was blocked, there was no toilet seat or TV, and the air conditioning was left wide open with some screws missing. When I asked the young man at reception about it, he just said that's how it is and that's how it works. So bad, there's not much else to say. Never again, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

At check-in, we found the lobby doors locked and the lights off. Nobody answered when we rang the bell, and when we came back after an hour, nothing had changed. There was a handwritten note in Italian on the glass door, which Google Translate helped us understand: all bookings had been moved to another hotel down the road. Nobody told us by email or phone. This happened in early February, the off-season in Cianchiano.

The owners were very kind, and both dinner and breakfast were good. Dinner was delicious, with a portion of their homemade pasta big enough for two, and breakfast had plenty of variety. The building dates to the 1970s, and the outside could use updating; inside, the furniture is also from that decade. With renovations, it would definitely deserve five stars.
