The setting is magical. Chiavenna lies in the valley with plenty of shops and restaurants, while Vecchiascuola is up in the quiet, cozy little community of Pianazolla. Locals gather on the square each afternoon and greet you with smiles, even when you're mumbling the few Italian words you know. That's all right. The view is amazing, the rooms are comfortable and well equipped, and some room choices have a small but decent kitchen. The owner André is helpful, nice, and kind of funny. With such a lovely B&B and a view like that, you might linger in your room instead of heading out.

The road into town is quite an adventure, and parking spaces are very limited. Be ready to walk with your luggage, though every step is worth it. The view is amazing, service was very nice, and our room was spotless. Its bathroom had a modern renovation with beautiful stone. We also ate at the adjoining restaurant and loved the food. We highly recommend both breakfast and dinner there, and the waiters and cook were amazing.

The hotel looks out over a breathtaking view, and the owners were lovely, with great suggestions for a trip. We also had very tasty dinner and breakfast at the restaurant in the building. The peaceful village is stunning, and though getting to the hotel at the top of chiavenna was a bit challenging, the drive was worth it. We stayed two nights and were happy we chose the place. The bed could have been more comfortable. It's also well placed for lots of good hikes and close to the Swiss Alps, which are worth visiting. 100% recommend.

The B&B has lots of character, and the town is beautiful and quaint, with plenty of cats. We stayed for a lovely weekend in July in the enology room, which was clean and well equipped. The owners were super friendly and helpful, and suggested some local walks. After we told the owner we'd be coming from Chiavenna on foot, he called with advice about the journey. It’s a tough walk of about 45 minutes and only suitable for people without mobility issues. Once there, the view over the valley and Chiavenna below was amazing. Two days later, we took a signposted route down from Pianazzola. There were some large fallen rocks on the path, so take care, but we reached the city centre in under an hour. Breakfast and dinner were easy to get at ristorante Lassù in the same building, though it had different management. We can’t wait to visit again!

I visited in 2022 and forgot to leave a review. The room was lovely and clean, with a nice view and a good, luxurious bathroom. The lady was so sweet and made me feel welcome. I’d recommend their wines too!
