I haven't stayed at the hotel since my home is within walking distance, and I'm the only Englishman in the village. I took two English friends for the local Piemontesi menu, and they were impressed by both the quality and the amount of food. The set menu has several courses and costs 30 euro, plus local wine. For a taste of rural Italian cooking, it's worth a try. We sat outside by the Pesio river, where you can see trout, dragonflies, and, depending on the season, fireflies.

I ate poorly, not because I have a complaint about the food, but because I couldn't stomach what felt like hatred toward dogs. I was happy to pay the young woman, who was kind, and keep the owners away from me. I left without wanting any contact with people I found ignorant. They have a room, a small one and the only nice one, reserved for people who hate dogs. I wasn't allowed in before I even knew whether my Leo would bother me. I wonder how the owners can hate dogs like that, and I'd urge people to be wary of anyone who dislikes animals. In the big room, the cooking smell is unpleasant. The windows are all closed there, just as they are in the nice little room, and the place has an unpleasant smell about it.
