The view is lovely and the location is good, though the hotel feels a little run-down. Breakfast had a nice range of homemade cakes, but there was no savory food, and you have to ask if you want yogurt. The owner was very kind and helpful with all our requests. The chef, who is also the owner, came across as a bit unfriendly and, to me, rude.

The tagliatelle with wild boar sauce, ravioli, spaghetti alla chitarra, arrosticini, lamb, and excellent wine were all a hit with us. The cooking is distinctively delicate, and the value is excellent. We got a bottle of homemade gentian from the "kind-hearted bear" himself, which was the icing on the cake. The chef and owner is reserved, but I found him kind and good, certainly not rude as some comments say. We ate at the family-run restaurant with friends and family on Saint Nicholas's feast evening and returned for lunch the next day. I didn't stay at the property, so I can't judge the location. I can't wait to go back. If only every chef were like that! Salvatore from Amalfi

The views from the shared spaces and many rooms are wonderful, and the dining room food is excellent. The place is charming and well kept, with reasonable prices and a fairly affordable stay. The manager was very courteous, but the chef, who is also the owner, was extremely poor with people and came close to being rude. Worth trying, especially for the restaurant.

This modest, old-fashioned place has a long-lost charm, and since it's truly family-run, eating here feels like being at home. Prices are fair and modest. The fresh pasta and authentic cooking are the main draw. Dinner begins with a welcome aperitif of bruschetta with cherry tomatoes, cheese, and cured meats. The tagliatelle with ragù was especially good. We also tried scamorza, arrosticini, and lamb to compare them with the other restaurant in Civitella. Arrosticini are nearly the same everywhere, and the scamorza was cooked better here. The lamb was on another level, delicious, flavorful, and still delicate. The pasta and lamb are what set this trattoria apart, in the truest sense of the word.

I love this place, it's so traditional, and the family running it is magical. You can especially taste that in their wonderful menu. The atmosphere is super welcoming, and the food is excellent. I recommend it wholeheartedly.
