Hotel Palazzo Renieri - 3stelle S

The buffet breakfast was fantastic, especially the cakes and pastries. Gabriele was so lovely and recommended a drive to the off the beaten track Abbazia di San Galgano. It was well worth a visit. We enjoyed reading about the abbey’s history and the church where the sword of San Galgano is kept. The accommodation was great. Grazie Gabriele, un giorno ci vedremo in Australia e ti mostreremo il canguro e il koala!

Maria made this one of our best stays. She was warm, professional, and welcoming from the moment we arrived, spoke perfect English, and had a great sense of humor. She made breakfast every morning, including the best coffee I’ve ever had, and made us feel at home. We’ll always remember her kindness. Palazzo Renieri was charming, and the rooms were clean, comfortable, and nicely kept. We did have one problem: when we came back another time, the front door was locked and our key wouldn’t work. We highly recommend the hotel, especially because of Maria. They’re lucky to have her, the place wouldn’t be the same without her.

The old town is really pretty, and the location is good, though parking may be a challenge. Breakfast was great, with cakes, fruit, a few savory choices, and good espresso. The breakfast staff were very friendly and the service was nice. My room was very purple, even the ceiling, more than the photos suggested. It was a bit dated but pleasantly cool. The shower was tricky to use and the water pressure kept changing. Reception was okay and the staff member spoke good English. Bring cash for the city tax. I was short of cash, and the guy at checkout seemed unhappy about it. I’d avoid the bar across the street, and recommend booking a restaurant ahead if possible.

We’ve stayed here on several trips to Rome over the past few years and wouldn’t choose another hotel there. The rooms have been excellent, and the service very good, with staff willing to go out of their way to help. It’s very central, about a 10 minute walk from Termini railway station and a 15 minute walk to Trevi fountain.
