Chalet Falorie

The apartment had a large room, a comfortable bed, and two toilets, and it served as our home for two days. The furniture is quite worn and showing its age, and there’s a lot of road noise in the units facing the main road. The driveway comes out on a blind corner, making it challenging to get in and out. We also didn’t feel welcome at the venue because we weren’t staying in the resort. The microwave wasn’t clean, and something had spilled in the freezer, making it unusable.

This review is about the two-bedroom apartment n°11. The owner is really nice, and we had a good experience overall, but it feels like whoever furnished the place didn’t think about people actually living there. For the price, the kitchen should have a proper coffee machine. The Nespresso one is useless with only four small capsules supplied and no replacements available anywhere. There’s no toaster, and the cups for morning coffee or hot chocolate are tiny. In the shower there’s nowhere to put shampoo. There are small lamps but no nightstands, so we had to put the lamps on the bed to open and close the wooden shutters behind the window. The two single beds in the bedroom are on wheels, which isn’t practical, and sometimes the lights flicker. The Wi-Fi is poor too, with devices constantly disconnecting. The nearby road makes it a bit noisy, though it’s not a huge problem because the soundproofing is pretty good. I’m writing this in hopes they’ll make the small changes that could make it much better.

We canceled our trip to this hotel a year and a half ago. The owner responded rudely and gave us a voucher only reluctantly. It was valid for one year, when nobody was able to travel, and now he refuses to honor the voucher or return our €1.2k. We didn’t run into this kind of problem during the pandemic with other hotels, many of which showed a lot of understanding, unlike chalet falorie.

Our Italy trip was canceled unexpectedly because of the covid outbreak in March 2019, after we had prepaid for the whole stay. We asked the owner for a partial refund as a basic courtesy, but he refused and said we were being fooled by our government and the system, that the pandemic wasn’t real, and that everything in Cortina was working great. They eventually issued a voucher for just 12 months. Now, a year and a half later, I’ve asked for a refund because nobody was able to travel last year and use it. They say the voucher has expired and there will be no refund.
