Hotel Menardi

Dinner at Menardi was so good that we ate there three of our five nights in Cortina. Book a table before you head out for the day. The two downtown restaurants we tried were highly rated and nearly as good, but not quite. Breakfast was great too, and the family and staff work incredibly hard. We felt safe walking the well-lit path into town, about 20 minutes away, and the bus stop right out front made getting around easy. After heavy snow on our second night, bus service stopped. We walked about 30 minutes along the path to the Faloria gondola with our skis and boot bags. We also rented sleds in town and had fun on the hill behind Menardi. The views were incredible from both the road side, where we stayed, and the back. If you’re reasonably fit and up for an adventure, walking to town is easy. As a visitor from the US, I found the language barrier tougher than I expected, so do a little research and planning instead of being “that” clueless American. What a magical place. I still miss Menû and Giuseppe 🙏🏼, and we’d absolutely stay here again.

We had a quiet room at the back with lovely mountain views and a view of the private garden. With all the construction and activity in town, it was nice that Menardi felt tucked away while still being close enough to walk to everything. The breakfast and bar area had what we needed. A great place, definitely recommend.

Our room was clean and really comfortable, and the hotel has a lovely restaurant with a big wine selection. It’s family-run and about a 15-20 minute walk to the town centre or the Tofane cable car. Everyone I spoke with was friendly, especially the housekeeper and the older man at reception. When he was younger, he worked as a mountain rescuer, and he loved chatting about climbing and hiking.

A beautiful bike and walking trail makes it easy to get into the centre, and restaurants, cafes and cable cars are close by too. The hotel also has its own private park, plus spa, sauna, steam room and massage facilities for an extra fee. Lovely after a day walking, biking or skiing. Menardi Hotel has the feel of a traditional historic Italian hotel, with the modern conveniences you need. It’s family-run, with warm, friendly service, clean comfortable rooms and a great restaurant, bar and lounge. Most rooms have stunning mountain views, and we thought it was the best value in Cortina.
