Villa Ronco

We were there in May, and it was a disgrace. Our underground room was dirty, with garbage outside the windows, which couldn't be opened, and smelly rubbish piled behind a door. We complained to the manager, who also runs one of Cortina's best hotels, but it was no use. Insane.

The clean towels and bed linen were the only good part, which is why I'm giving one star. For that much money, I've never had such poor service. Picking up and returning the key in another location in the city center meant extra trips. The apartment was dirty and sticky everywhere, from the surfaces and doorknobs to the bed frame streaked with dirt. The carpet was dirty too, the terrace hadn't been swept, and the wooden floors and furniture were scratched and neglected. One room was in the basement and smelled strongly of paint. When the Wi-Fi stopped working, the owner didn't answer despite several calls, then rejected our call. It took several hours to get the problem resolved. On departure day, the cleaners arrived half an hour before checkout and made lots of demands about taking out trash and cleaning the kitchen and surfaces. I can't recommend this place to anyone.

We stayed in Room 17 for three days, in a two-bedroom unit for four on part of the villa's second floor. It had a living room, dining room, and kitchen, with the Alpine peaks visible from the window. I feel lucky to have stayed somewhere like this. It feels like a place for a lifetime.
