The pool area is beautiful, and the place was pleasant overall. The beds felt a bit hard, like hotel beds in Italy often seem to. What really stood out was the incredibly helpful staff: when thunderstorms diverted our flight to another airport, they waited for us when we arrived in the middle of the night. I can highly recommend it.

The historic buildings and interior are beautiful, and the hotel has a lot of potential. The garden looks lovely online, but it seemed neglected for the season when we visited: it was overgrown, with grass higher than the hedges. It could look beautiful once they mow the lawn. Breakfast was ordinary, with dry bread and scrambled eggs, no vegetables, and they'd run out of cheese. The staff could also be more outgoing and service oriented.

Our room smelled like something had died in it, and the king bed was just two broken singles shoved together. The grounds were overgrown and dirty, and broken glass by the pool stayed there for days. The staff were the rudest and least friendly we encountered in six months in Italy. The receptionist even flicked her cigarette butt onto our patio. I can't understand the good reviews. Don't ruin your holiday, book somewhere else.

The rooms were comfortable, but the air wasn't on, and with no window screens, bugs came in and made it very uncomfortable. The pool hadn't been open for who knows how long, and the grounds needed upkeep. The hotel itself was okay, but staff, especially at the restaurant and also at the desk, were so unfriendly and didn't make us feel wanted. After two years without guests, I expected a more welcoming attitude. I'm sure other hotels would have appreciated our business. As a group leader, I won't stay here again or recommend it.
