Villa Marsili

The owner made us feel like family during our four-day family trip, and breakfast was something we looked forward to every morning. It was prepared with such care, and the owner was warm and kind to all the guests. One day she noticed us taking decorative vegetables from the cheese section because we wanted salad, and she specially made a fresh bowl for our family. It was delicious. Her suggestion to try parsley pesto with boiled eggs was a hit, too, absolutely the best. It's no exaggeration to call this the best hotel in Cortona. If we visit again, we'll stay here without hesitation.

Our room was spacious, updated, and tastefully decorated, with great amenities and a very comfortable bed. The view was unparalleled, and the included breakfast was a huge spread, the most delicious we've had anywhere in the world. The hotel is just a short walk from the main piazza. Everyone was kind and helpful, from the happy-hour and breakfast servers to the people who managed our car. Thank you, John! Davide checked us in, was very pleasant and helpful, and gave us local restaurant and gelato suggestions when we asked. Our hostess gave us such a warm welcome and clearly cared about our stay. We'd highly recommend Hotel Villa Marsili to couples or families and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in Cortona.

The view is unmatched, and breakfast feels like a gallery of food, with each dish like art. The service is warm, too. Books about Cortona at this superb residence led me to discover Luca Signorelli of Cortona, the Renaissance painter. I realized the town is more than just a place from a movie, it's a religious and artistic treasure. A place travelers can call home.

What a place to be stranded. Expedia mistakenly booked my party of two into separate suites, and on my departure date the Italian trains went on strike. The hotel managers worked hard to make sure my needs were met. They're experienced, knowledgeable, and professional. I couldn't imagine a better team to be stuck with. The hotel's website photos honestly show how beautiful it looks in person. Villa Marsili is at Via Gino Severini, 48, by the walled city gate of old Cortona. It's about a seven-minute walk to Piazza Della Repubblica. The interior has fresh, bright, calming paint, accent details, antique furniture, and relic art. There are Classic and Superior rooms. Superior rooms are spacious and bright, with street and countryside views. Beds are firm and comfortably spacious, with King size options. Rooms have tubs as an alternative to showers, and curtains that combine sheer and sun-blocking layers. There are approximately 28 rooms. Breakfast sets a very high bar, with lots of choices and kind, attentive staff. When traveling to Tuscany and staying overnight in Cortona, consider this elegant hotel.
