We stayed for five nights in early June, when it was quiet and there was plenty of space. The pitches are loosely marked with numbers rather than measured out neatly between hedges, so it's more like a field with trees and lots of room. Brilliant, in other words, though it might not be as quiet in summer. It's a bit like an aire naturelle campsite. The restaurant and washrooms were fine, and the owners were lovely and kind. The access road is small and bumpy, but manageable and a bit of an adventure. We'd like to come back.

Great campsite, but don't walk into town in the middle of the day when it's hot. It's very hilly.

I don't think we've ever written a more pleasurable review. If heaven could be on earth, it would be at Camping Rio Verde. We planned on three nights, but after the first we extended to six because we liked it so much. The family who own the place welcomed us warmly as soon as we arrived. They made a point of remembering our first names and using them, which was a nice touch. There are pitches to suit different preferences: some slope a little for more elevation, others are flat; some sit in the dense shade of incredibly tall pines, while others have no shade. The owners give advice on where to pitch, but the choice is entirely yours. The sanitary facilities are 100 meters from the center of the main campsite, and well worth the walk: among the most modern and clean we've come across. Take three more steps and you can look over the fence at ponies in their paddocks. The campsite is attached to what looks like a sizeable farm. There's a reasonably priced restaurant/pizzeria and bar, with a lovely terrace overlooking the pool. It's no surprise the food is good: two of the owners run it, and one makes wonderful dishes, using produce from their own land as much as possible. My wife says you should try the chicken, which she found delicious. Francesca takes care of guests at the table and speaks good English. Another owner, Ebbo, is Dutch and looks after the pool, which is big, beautifully clean, and has plenty of seating and loungers. He speaks very good English, and even has a robot lawn mower keeping the grass tidy. There's a hatch to the bar. There's lots to do nearby, and walking and cycling are musts. We especially recommend visiting Assisi and Gubbio, two beautiful medieval towns. We're sitting here now in the dappled shade of the pine trees. It's so peaceful and relaxing, just fantastic. We highly recommend Camping Rio Verde and will definitely return when we can. Heaven.

We camped here in summer 2015 and had a nice stay, with a very friendly welcome. There are no fixed pitches, so you can choose where to put your tent. The trees give good shade in summer. It's a bit of a walk to the sanitary building, but that's okay. The site is a little remote, so I'd recommend having a car.

We camped here in summer 2017 and enjoyed it to the max. The showers and toilets might seem a little dated, but the pool is lovely, the restaurant has great food, and management are very kind and helpful. We hope we can come back this year!
