Camping Lo Ionio

We tried the pizza at the bar, restaurant, and pizzeria and gave it top marks. Camping Lo Ionio has loads of space, quiet shaded pitches with electricity, and newly renovated restrooms that were always clean during our two-night camper stop. The beach is huge and just across a short underpass. With new management in place for only a few months, there’s a lot of potential here. I think the manager will make the most of it over time, with things getting better year by year. Let’s trust them!

The meal we had there on August 15th was excellent, with good prices, and everyone we dealt with was friendly. The owner was great too. Staff were attentive and ready to help throughout our stay, and the pitches are spacious, just a few steps from the sea. We had a wonderful time and will definitely come back.

Getting to the lovely sea is easy: a safe underpass leads to the beach, about 250-300 meters away. The main road is close, though, so trucks, cars, and motorcycles make some noise at night, even if it isn’t too intense. The recently redone bathrooms were always clean and had new fixtures, soap, and toilet paper. Hot showers are free, and the pitches have a fair amount of shade. There’s also a fitness area with weights and equipment, which I appreciated, and a play area for children. There’s no entertainment for the little ones, though. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the prices are reasonable. It’s a functional, well-kept, welcoming campsite with amenities above average for its category. It works well for families, people who like to exercise, and anyone after a simple stay with basic comforts. Children’s entertainment could be better.

The off-season rate for our campervan pitch was €15 for the night, all included. We stayed July 1st to 2nd on our way to Sicily, and a really friendly, helpful family made us pizza straight away. The toilets and showers are newly built and spotless. Nothing to complain about!
