Agricamping Stone Vesuvio

We had a great evening at Francesca's, about a mile away. The food and wine were delicious, and the transfer for €5 was worth getting. The site felt very secure and is within walking distance of Herculaneum, which was our main reason for coming. The town feels a little tired, though it gets better nearer the ruins. We have 2 dogs, and they were welcome everywhere. Recommended 👍

The owners were lovely and ready to help with anything. They live next door, so if reception is empty, they're just a phone call away. We asked to keep an extra rented car at the campsite, and they said yes with no extra charge, unlike other campings. At first they thought we needed them to find us a car, and even started making calls, which was very kind. When our heating system had a problem, they recommended a service in Naples and called them right away at 8:30 AM because they were friends. They also sell local products such as olive oil. For Naples, the owners recommend Ercolano Scavi station. Google Maps suggests Ercolano Miglio d'Oro, a bit closer. We didn't try that station for the trip into Naples, but got off there on the way back. We couldn't see where tickets were sold and there didn't seem to be an entrance gate, so I'm not sure whether you can board there, but you can definitely get off there. To return to the campsite, the owners suggested a train bound for Poggiomarino (via Scafati); we also took one bound for Torre Anunziata, and that worked fine. The toilets and showers were spotless even when the campsite was full at the beginning of March 2025. There was hot water in the showers and toilet sinks at any time, day or night. A shower costs 0.5 eur/5 min. You can add coins for more time, pressing the shower button once for each 0.5 coin; 1 eur coins work too, but not 2 eur coins. There's a regular washing machine, not a big industrial one, for 5 eur. No dryer, but there's a drying rack. The electricity was powerful enough for our 1300w airfryer without a problem. It felt extremely safe behind the large gate, which opens with a key given to campers on arrival. There's a good Coop supermarket 850m away. We paid 34+2eur tourist tax/night in low season, until April. There may be some motorway noise, I think, but it was faded and definitely bearable. There's a great view of the Vesuvius from the toilets and showers area. We'd love to come back!

It's a handy base for exploring the archaeological sites nearby. Some pitches under shade cloth can fit tents, but with simple facilities and hardly any communal seating, it seems better suited to campervans. The place is also a bit isolated, though the big gates make it feel very secure. Staff and managers get 5 stars from me for being so kind and helpful. You can get cheap cold beer and homegrown tomatoes at reception. The showers are clean and good, at .50 cents for 5 mins. Public transport is a 15 min walk away. There's some road noise at night, but it's tolerable, and lots of birds in the morning.

The caretaker was so sweet and helpful. He took time to translate for me and appreciated my attempts to speak Italian. As I drove off, he waited and watched, which warmed my heart. My dad always did that with us, and I've kept the tradition going with my children: seeing loved ones off until they're out of sight matters. I'd love to come back and visit Paolo again. The birds of paradise and lemon trees were a treat to see. It's a perfect little camping spot.
