I've stayed here twice now, and when my friends wanted to see Herculaneum and Pompeii, I knew where to book. The family running the place are helpful and full of local information, and the value is great: the rooms are clean, stylish and well maintained, with great Wi-Fi and A/C. Breakfast at the Bar across the street is included, and the bar owner is such a nice guy. The location is another big reason I like it. Herculaneum is a five-minute walk, the train is 10 minutes away on foot, and Pompeii is a 15-minute drive. Restaurants and shops are about 2-5 minutes away. Villa Campolieto, Palazzo di Portici and the vintage clothes market, Mercato di Resina, are also within walking distance.

You can get to the Herculaneum ruins very easily from here. The villa is fascinating and historic, while the room still feels modern and comfortable.

Salvatore, the owner and manager, knows the building, the area and local transport inside out, and is always ready to help. Villa Cua is a historic building in Ercolano with a small number of hotel-style rooms. Mine was spacious and clean, with a balcony looking over the rooftops to Vesuvius. Herculaneum is only a two-minute walk away, and the railway station is about 10 minutes on foot, with trains to Naples, Pompeii and Sorrento. There are no dining facilities at Villa Cua, so breakfast is at a friendly local cafe a minute away.

Salvatore was always on hand to help and sort out any problems, and he gave us tips on places to visit. The rooms are lovely and very clean, with a beautiful view from the third floor. The B&B is close to a train station, so getting to central Naples is easy, and Sorrento is easy to reach from Ercolano too. We stayed for four days and really enjoyed it. Ercolano is quieter than central Naples, which made it a comfortable place to stay, and the locals were nice. Breakfast is served at a welcoming place one minute away. The building is older than the rooms, which I found charming. Just know there's no elevator. That wasn't an issue for me, and walking up those stairs is some exercise after all that delicious Naples pizza.
