We stayed for two nights as a pause from travelling, and the staff were wonderfully friendly. They didn’t charge us for our four dogs, which was great. Breakfast was the weak point: there wasn’t much choice, and most of it was processed sugar. I’d still recommend the place for a short stay.

The staff were excellent and went out of their way to help. Our room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the room itself was fine, though quite basic. A tea or coffee setup would have been useful. The town center is a bit of a walk away. We were there for a ceramics festival.

The room’s main light was a fluorescent tube plugged into an outlet, and there was only one other available socket for charging a phone, under the desk. The switches and outlets were loose, the walls dirty, and the old furniture was worn and in poor shape. The restaurant is closed for dinner on Mondays and Tuesdays. Maybe it was a good hotel in the 70s, but this isn’t a four-star experience, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

The smell throughout the property and the state of the rooms both felt like they belonged to the communist era in my country. The restaurant had that same 1980s communist style. I’ve stayed in real four-star hotels, and this wasn’t one. Two stars feels like the honest rating.
