Hotel Garibaldi

The staff were great and very accommodating.

A nice place, though it seems more suited to older people.

I used to visit this hotel as a child, thirty years ago, and remembered it as the most beautiful place in Finale, right in the center, well known, with excellent food. Sadly, it seems not to have changed since then, and now that feels like neglect. The cleanliness, upkeep, and hospitality all leave a lot to be desired. It felt like a one-star hotel: dirty, old, run-down, with cafeteria-style food. The room was in a pitiful state, as the photos show. Lunch and dinner were overcooked and tasteless, a real mess for a place rated three stars. The staff were especially disappointing, rude and disorganized. I booked six months ahead and specified that I wanted the beach club across from the hotel. They gave us a ticket when we arrived, but the club said there was no space and that "the hotel always does this" or "they forget." We went back to reception, upset, and were told, "No problem, we'll sort it out." An hour later we returned, but there was still no space. They sent us to a different beach club far away, in the last row, with the four of us having umbrellas far apart. My vacation felt ruined from the first day. I can't understand how it still has its rating. Even one star would be generous.

We had a wonderful week at the Garibaldi Hotel during August 17-24 and were more than satisfied. The beach is just across the street, and paid parking is very close by. The only downside, which isn't the hotel's fault, was the late-night noise in the square. With the windows shut, and maybe earplugs, you should be able to rest. Our rooms were spotless, the towels were changed daily, and both the wait staff and housekeeping ladies were incredibly friendly. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were delicious, simple, plentiful, and fat-free. I was worried about stomach problems, but had a great time. Highly recommended.
