Angela was my host, and she’s just the best. She’s warm, super polite, and has a great service mindset. The hotel’s decor feels like a vintage, homey getaway, and Angela makes you feel just as welcome. Her cooking is amazing too. No complaints at all, this place is a rare gem. 💓💓💓💓

We loved it so much that we extended our stay, and we’ll definitely come back. The setting in the Tuscan hills of Florence is wonderful, and the hospitality and attention to detail were lovely. Breakfast was a buffet full of fresh food and care. What more can I say? 💖

I’m updating my review from our week here in 2012. We stayed in Room #2, a beautiful room that was just right for two. The boutique hotel was fabulous, with immaculate grounds and wonderful rooms. I also played at the famous, historic Ugolino golf course, and the hotel seemed to have a connection with golf. This update is about Room #2 and the many photos I took of it. I can’t speak to the windows in the other rooms on different sides of the hotel, and I don’t know whether anything has changed since then. Looking back at the pictures, I noticed terra cotta blocks covering the windows. They made the room feel like a cell, and the door seemed to be the only way out. In an emergency, I don’t think you could get out through the windows because of the decorative cement blocks. I considered it a real potential fire hazard then, and still do. It might have been changed, though that would take a lot of demolition and construction. Check your room’s windows, ask about fire safety, and request another room if you see decorative terra cotta blocks over the windows. Italian safety laws shouldn’t allow this, but then again, this is Italy.

With only ten rooms, we often had the pool or lounge to ourselves, and the relaxed, charming atmosphere made it easy to unwind. The hotel was a perfect base for our family holiday, with plenty of space, comfort, and immaculate cleanliness. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and helped make this our best holiday yet. Florence’s center is a short drive or bus ride away. There’s also a supermarket and bus stop about a 10-minute walk from the hotel, if that suits you, or you can stay put and enjoy the luxury. We arrived late on our first night, and the food Angela had prepared for us was the best meal of the trip, which says a lot in this part of the world. Definitely ask Lorenzo about arranging a wine tour or other regional visits.
