It needs renovation, but the place is clean and the food is good. The owner deserves five stars for her kindness, warmth, attention, helpfulness, and hospitality. She's truly unique, goes out of her way for guests, and makes them feel at ease.
The hotel is near the Azzuro Sanmaru restaurant. The road to the main entrance is narrow, so a bus can't pick up or drop off there. Buses can use the back entrance instead. A considerate driver will contact the hotel before arriving, and a staff member comes out to help with check-in. Park at the rear and go in that way. There's an elevator on the left side of the hall. The signs label it Back Entrance Ground Floor 1S, Lobby (Front Desk) T, then 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Floor. From the front, the main entrance is next to the lobby, but the street is too narrow for bus parking. Outside, signs point to the San Marco Hotel, so it's easy to find the supermarket without asking. The restaurant is just down the stairs from the lobby's T floor, with the door right there. At check-in, staff try to communicate using Italian and Korean translation apps. They're friendly, but trying basic Italian makes things less confusing. Rooms are a standard size for the Fiuggi area. The key is a physical metal-bar type, like the one Peter is holding. They recommend practicing opening and closing the door when you check in. It isn't an electronic key like in Korea, and closing it doesn't lock it automatically, so they tell you to close the door from inside. Bathrooms may or may not have a shower booth. They point out the bidet and explain that the metal button on the wall beside the toilet flushes it. The Wi-Fi details are posted on the wall at the front desk. The password is welcome2019, and Wi-Fi is only available in the lobby. They ask guests to spray some BioKill on the bed after checking in, just in case. Room numbers are usually below 10 on the first floor, in the 10s on the second, and in the 20s on the third, so check the floor. The third floor has rooftop rooms with sloping ceilings. There's no air conditioning. Opening the window after a shower can make the room cold in the early morning. In summer, a mini fan works well, and there are lots of high-performance fans in the 30,000 won range online. The indirect indoor lighting is dim. Breakfast is a simple, typical Italian meal. Hotel rules ask guests to keep quiet and not move the furniture during their stay. Bio-kill is absolutely necessary, especially in summer.
The managers and staff were so warm and hospitable that they treated us like family. This vintage-style hotel is very close to the center of Fiuggi Fonte and the Bonifacio spa. The facilities will be renovated gradually. See you next time!
The rooms are fairly spacious, including the bathrooms, and triple rooms may be available. There is a bathtub with a half-glass partition, but no hairdryer, and the key is a traditional stick key. Room numbers start at 1, with -4 being the lobby floor, so check which floor you're on. Buses can park near the building's back door. From there, go through an entrance and a narrow passage; the stairs are on the left inside, then the elevator, located at Basement 2. The lobby is on the 2nd floor when seen from the back and the 0th floor from the front. The elevator fits up to two people plus two bags. T means Lobby, T2 is Basement 1, and the down arrow marks Basement 2. Guest rooms start on the 1st floor. Breakfast starts at 6:00 AM, though sometimes it's served at 7:00 AM. Packaged croissants and toasters are set out on individual plates at the table. A small bottle of drinking water costs 1 Euro, and vino costs 5 Euro. Hot water is available in the afternoon at designated times.
