Apartments Florence Borgo dei Greci

We slept really well here, thanks to the comfortable bed and pillows, and the receptionist was kind, friendly, and always ready to help. The kitchenette was clean and well kept, with a microwave and stove for basic cooking, though there’s no oven or dishwasher. Borgo de Greci Apartments is in the middle of Florence but tucked into a quiet spot. The Uffizi Gallery is around a 3-minute walk, the riverside about 5 minutes, and most main sights are 2 to 10 minutes away on foot. Restaurants, cafés, and little local shops are right around the corner. Our stay at Borgo de Greci Apartments made Florence even more enjoyable, and the place had what we needed close by.

Elena was our apartment for four nights, on the first floor, though the actual address was on via dei rustici around the corner. The stairs are steeper than usual. We arrived after the office had closed, and Google Maps sent us to the wrong end of the street because two addresses there share the same number. The washing machine was handy and had clear instructions in English, and the A/C worked well. I would have liked a nightstand by the single bed and more bathroom shelving. It was fairly quiet, except for some late night commotion outside one night. The trash instructions pointed to locations a long walk away, but at the office when we paid the city tax, we were told that policy only applied to longer stays, not our short visit. Getting around on foot was easy: 5 minutes to Uffizi, 10 to Duomo, 4 to Conad City grocery store, and close to good neighborhood restaurants.

Suzanne’s communication before arrival was top notch, and the apartment was well equipped in a perfect Santa Croce Neighborhood location. The second night, though, someone broke in while we were out for dinner and stole luggage, prescription sunglasses, a coat, and a hat. They also broke into the apartment below and took their brand new designer clothes. We spent the rest of the evening dealing with the mess and the police. Management comped one night, but I didn’t think that was reasonable. They should have covered the whole stay, and the people downstairs too. I’d recommend contacting management before booking to ask whether they’ve improved security. Otherwise, stay somewhere more secure.

Borgode Greci worked perfectly for our two couples, and we had an amazing time in Florence. Once we figured out the A/C, Margarita apartment was quite comfortable. The elevator came in handy for hauling luggage up three floors, even though it was barely big enough for one person.
