For a few nights in Florence, this clean, basic place worked well. It's in a good location near restaurants and Carrefour, and I had no complaints about the accommodation itself. There's a fridge and cooking setup, though we only had one pot and one cup, and no microwave. A few things to know: call before you arrive, because we waited 40 minutes for the owner to bring the keys. Payment is cash only on arrival. They asked to photograph our photo ID for the city tax, but we refused and agreed they'd just write down our details. Towels cost 2€ each.

Bed bugs! We started getting odd clusters of bites after the first day and couldn't work out the cause. Two weeks after leaving, we found an adult bug, five babies, and several larvae in our backpack. That's where the bites came from. Don't stay until they fix this. If they do, the rest of my review would be three stars. We spent three nights in a private room while visiting Florence. Service was kind and friendly, and the room was clean. It's about a 15-minute walk from the train station. The street was a bit noisy, the main sights were far enough away that popping back during the day wasn't convenient, and the room was quite warm. There's no AC, and it's on the second floor. One note: follow the directions on the paper. Google Maps first took us to another Art Hostel across town.

A really awful place.

There was only a fan instead of the promised air conditioning, and no refrigerator. Towels cost extra, and the website photo didn't show what the place was really like. The hostess wouldn't let us into our room, saying she was cleaning. She'd also canceled our reservation after we'd checked in, apparently to avoid paying Booking fees.

€200 a night for this place is a rip-off. If zero stars were an option, that would be the right score. I'll report it to consumer protection. Shame!
