Borghese Palace Art Hotel

The reception was fantastic, especially the polite, smiling guy who welcomed us. I stayed here for a few vacation days, and the rooms were good, though the cleaning was very poor. The breakfast lady made us uncomfortable by asking for our room number several times. I've never seen anyone act like that. We were hotel guests, not people who had come in from outside just to eat breakfast.

Breakfast was the one weak point for us, with a somewhat limited selection, though perhaps circumstances at the time were a factor. The hotel was otherwise convenient and comfortable, and we may return. We recently stayed at the Borghese Palace and had a very pleasant time. Our room was well maintained, thoughtfully equipped with the expected conveniences, and had a lovely view. Service was excellent throughout, especially from the front desk manager, who was friendly and attentive from check-in and showed great care for guests.

The location and breakfast were decent, but I wouldn't stay here. There was no climate control, so it was either 80 degrees in the room or an open window with mosquitoes and people partying outside until 4:00 am. The shower had no door, and the bathroom wood was starting to rot, with mold too. Dead mosquitoes from a previous guest were stuck to the walls and ceiling. We added to the “art” collection.

The Superior single room had a kettle, but using it meant crawling under the desk to unplug a lamp. The safe failed to open several times. Its instructions said to use a 3 to 6 digit combination, but maintenance only told me on my last night, after several failed attempts, that it needed at least 4 digits. Breakfast was so-so, and nearby restaurants offer better breakfasts for less. The hotel itself is beautiful, the location ideal, and the bed linens exceptional.
