The staff were friendly, and the location is handy, close to the train station on a side street that felt safe. You can walk to pretty much anything in central Florence. We stayed three nights and were happy enough: the room fit three people, was cleaned well, and had a pretty nice bathroom. It’s a simple place, so if you expect that, you’ll probably be fine. The website photos, especially of the rooms, make it look a bit better than it is. It’s not as bad as some reviews suggest, but it’s at the lower end of a three-star rating. The walls and doors are thin, so noise carries around the hotel. WiFi kept disconnecting and was terrible. By the end of October the air conditioning had been switched off completely. Staff said it was because the place was getting too cold, but our room was 26C, and without AC there wasn’t enough air circulation, so we had to open the windows.

Hotel Corona felt poorly run. The bar wasn’t open because, we were told, the bar manager was on holiday. The place had no personality and was very basic. There was no kettle, just a fridge with bottled water, and the view was awful. When I asked to change rooms, I was told mine was one of the best.

Breakfast was wonderful, and the staff were warm and happy to answer all our questions. Ashmita was a real gem. We’ll definitely come back. Oscar

I stayed here years ago, when everything was great: the staff, rooms, food, and the way the hotel was looked after. Now the quality has fallen badly, and I won’t return. It really feels like a two-star place. Even the day manager at the front desk looked untidy, with wrinkled clothes, and as if he didn’t care. The desk staff used to take pride in their appearance, and the hotel used to be clean and well maintained. They need to get things in order across the board. The building and furniture look old and worn, and the place badly needs renovation. Our room was dirty, the TV barely worked, and the sink and shower didn’t work properly. Cleaning took forever. We were lucky if the room was ready by 5 pm, which was frustrating when we wanted to come back and relax during the day. On one of the hottest days of the month, the air conditioning was out across the whole hotel, and the front desk basically said, “That’s how it is.” Breakfast was okay for a continental spread, but at busy times they seemed to run out of things, and the quality was below par. The area felt sketchy, though it is close to the station and everything else.
