D'Azeglio Rooftop Terrace

After our class stayed there, we were told the whole group had been infected with bedbugs. It was disgusting and horrible. The blanket had holes and black dirt on it, and we didn't even have proper bed sheets. Some rooms also smelled foul, with no perfume or deodorant able to cover it up. The Hotel D’Azeglio felt dirty and cheap, and the breakfast didn't taste fresh. The bread and croissants seemed as though they hadn't even been baked in an oven. The receptionist was always somewhere else instead of behind the desk, and there was no hygiene. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. If you really want to stay there, take the downstairs hotel, Rita Major. It's nothing like the one upstairs, D’Azeglio.

The location worked really well for us: the area felt central but was quiet, and the historic center was about a 20-minute walk away. There are also a few buses to the train station. We booked three nights at the last minute after a problem with our original accommodation. The receptionist was incredibly kind and helpful, and our room was clean and had all the essentials. Breakfast was included and better than expected, with a good range of choices and little croissants I loved. Coffee and tea were available all day.

The room was the main problem during our three-night stay. It looked worn and dated, with some battered furniture and ugly corners. For four people, there was hardly anywhere to put our things: just a wardrobe, two cupboards, and one chair besides the beds. The toilet door wouldn't lock no matter how many times we tried. We asked the receptionist to fix it, and he said he would come, but he never did. The bidet also started leaking once. There was no safe for valuables, though perhaps hotel guests don't ask for one much. Breakfast had little variety, just two kinds of ham, cheese, and some baked goods. The coffee machine often didn't work, so we had to heat water for tea in a microwave that, for some reason, could only be set for 30 seconds. On the plus side, the Wi-Fi worked flawlessly, the location was good, and the main sights were a 10-15 minute walk away. Our room had AC, which helped with the Italian July heat. Maybe we expected too much of a two-star hotel, but the rooms especially need a serious update.

We paid €100 expecting a place to rest, but were awake and scared most of the night. We arrived around 10:30 p.m., exhausted, and the receptionist showed us a room that smelled rotten, like sewage. We had to open the window and spray perfume just to stay in it. Then a group of about ten young men and women ran around half-dressed until 4 a.m., shouting, slamming doors, and running through the halls. It felt like being stuck in a stinking hell with animals banging on every door, and the receptionist did nothing to sort it out. We didn't even take the breakfast. I want a refund and compensation. The photos show the rest: a clogged sink, another clogged sink, a broken window, moldy walls, and phone charging sockets that didn't work. Complete chaos.
