Dantes Relais

The location is really handy for the price, with food right downstairs and Piazza della Signoria about a five-minute walk away. Nunzio was lovely to us. The room is literally beside the church where the famous Italian writer got married and lived, which gave me the full Dante’s experience I was after. I knew it would be loud, though, and I wouldn't recommend staying more than a day or two.

The location is wonderful, but the sound carries badly. You can hear the other guests and all the street noise, and there’s no elevator to get up to the apartment. The bathroom has no curtain or heating, so it was pretty cold. It’s an old apartment where each room has been made into a separate guest room. There’s a shared entrance and a refrigerator in the shared hallway.

The room and bathroom were clean, though the building is old and the furnishings are pretty worn. It gets very loud at night, so this is probably a better fit for people who like to party. For the relatively low high-season price, you get your own bathroom and a great spot, just a few minutes on foot from the Uffizi, Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio, and other main sights. It's not the fanciest room in town, but it does the job. We couldn't pay in advance. After checking in, we could pay in cash or through PayPal. A good choice if location and keeping costs down matter to you.

The heaters were a real plus in winter, and the location is great. Still, I thought the room was a bit overpriced for what you get. There's no reception, so you'll need internet on your phone to reach the owner. There's a bar right below the windows that isn't shown on Google Maps. On weekends or before a bank holiday, people stay outside and the music is so loud you won't get any sleep. Honestly, I wish we still had a lockdown.
