Feel Good

There’s a Co-op market nearby, and the room was neat and clean. We also had a lovely view of the mountains and the river. Since we like strolling, we walked to the historic part of the city, which takes about 20 minutes. Florence is like a museum, so there was plenty to see. There’s only one bus, but it should suit people who don’t want to walk. We were happy with the trip overall. The one thing missing from the room was tea, so we had to buy a whole pack, though there was a kettle and cups.

The room looked just like the pictures, and I appreciated having an electric kettle. The bathroom was shared with two other rooms, but it was clean and had a hair dryer. Getting in from outside involved about three layers of locks, and the area was a quiet residential neighborhood, so I didn’t feel there was a safety concern. The bus stop was around two minutes away, laundry about five minutes, and the ride to the Duomo in central Florence took roughly 20 minutes. There were a lot of dust mites, though, and I thought the separate 20 euro cleaning fee charged on arrival was a bit unreasonable. I gave it two stars because there was a hostel near the central station for the same low price, and I chose that one instead.

The rooms are clean, tidy, and nicely decorated, though modestly furnished with just a bed, wardrobe, bedside tables, and chair. It’s cheaper than hotels and handy for a city break, with bus stops nearby. I found the payment details a bit unclear: on arrival, I learned the rental price included a 20 euros cleaning fee paid after check-in, plus a 3 euros per person per night “climate” fee. The main drawback is that there are no mosquito screens on the windows. There’s occasionally some noise from other guests, but it’s bearable. Free WiFi, and the hallway has lots of leaflets for restaurants and attractions, plus books and guidebooks.
