Gogò Petit Hotel

The rooms are clean, pleasant, and have what you need, and the service was immaculate. Ours was only suitable for two people, so keep that in mind if you’re considering another room. The main drawback is the location. The hotel is beside the US embassy, in a quiet spot, but there are no restaurants or services nearby. You’ll need to eat breakfast at the hotel or walk about 20 minutes to the city centre. There’s also no lift, and the hotel is on the second floor.

Even though we arrived after reception hours, clear messages from the staff made check-in easy. Breakfast was generous and delicious, and our room had everything we needed for a short visit. The Gogo is on a quiet street, yet we could walk to everything we wanted to see in Florence in about 15-30 minutes. It was very reasonably priced too. The room was right beside reception, and with walls so thin it felt as if a piece of cardboard was all that separated us. We could clearly hear loud conversations and music, so sleeping late or relaxing in the room was impossible. Sound comfort matters a lot to me in a hotel, and this seriously affected my stay. The rest was fine. My room was spacious and spotless, and the location was quiet and felt safe, with embassies nearby. The poor soundproofing cancelled out much of that advantage.

Read the other reviews and the owner replies. The reports, including the bug bites, are true. The owner doesn’t seem like a nice person. I’m writing this at 2 a.m. because I can’t sleep. An AC unit right outside my window is vibrating the whole room with a low-frequency noise that I’m worried could be dangerous to health. Several LED lights inside keep flashing and can’t be switched off. The room feels unbreathable, and opening the window lets in both the AC noise and smoke from the area directly below where people smoke. It reminded me of military torture. I thought about leaving, but was too worried to walk the streets with my suitcase at 2 a.m. My holiday was ruined.
