We cancelled our reservation and booked somewhere else because the pricing around the room views wasn't clear. My husband had booked directly through the hotel's official website, which heavily advertises Duomo views and repeatedly says many rooms overlook the cathedral. After booking, though, Imran at the front desk emailed that a guaranteed room with a view would cost an extra €50 per night, payable in cash at check-in. We have that in writing. There was no way on the website to select or upgrade to a view room while booking, and no clear disclosure of the extra charge during the reservation process. We also couldn't find this cash-only policy mentioned on the hotel's site or in guest reviews. Asking for cash without mentioning official documentation or a receipt felt misleading and unprofessional. Based on this experience, we wouldn't recommend the hotel.

The room was cozy and well looked after, and the staff were professional, helpful, and welcoming. Breakfast fell short of expectations for both variety and quality. The elevator is small and inconvenient with luggage or when it's busy. The location is hard to beat, right in the center of Florence and only steps from the Duomo. It's in a restricted traffic zone, so getting there by car is difficult, though the hotel does offer valet service.

The main hassle was getting into the building. There are six steps at the entrance and another step into the lift, which is tiny. With a baby, buggy, and two suitcases, we had to handle everything in stages. The location is really good, and the rooms were clean, with a firm bed and a good shower and bathroom.

The rooms were amazing, right by the Duomo, shops, and some of the city's best food.

We had flight problems and ended up checking in after midnight, but the staff were still welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed to settle in for the night. They're really friendly, accommodating, and keep the hotel clean. Breakfast was very fresh, and the attendants kept replenishing the food. I highly recommend Hotel Bigallo and hope to stay there again!
