Hotel Esperanza

The receptionist couldn't have been more helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable. It was a great stay, with a good location for visiting the historic sights.

Reception service was attentive and helpful, and the room was clean, tidy and spacious. We could open the window for fresh, crisp air, a beautiful view and the lovely sounds of Florence at night, opera singing in our case. It was a quiet place, about 10 minutes on foot from the train station and 5 minutes from the major attractions. One issue is the toiletries: just one 5 ml bottle of shampoo and conditioner, which definitely isn't enough for a family visit and needs improvement. Also, it's around 50-70 stairs to carry your bags up, which may be a problem for people with limited mobility, though it wasn't a big issue for me.

The rooms were clean, and the staff were friendly and even carried our bags. It's a decent budget choice. Just keep in mind this is a two star hotel. The climb to the third floor gets old after a full day walking around the city, and the walls are thin enough that you can easily hear your neighbors.

Aldo at the reception desk gave exceptional service, with thoughtful advice and recommendations. The bathroom was clean and modern. There isn't an elevator, so you'll have to walk up or down to wherever you need to go.
