Lungarno Apartments

We loved being able to walk around Florence from this stellar location, and had a great time browsing the shops. The internet worked well, too. The rooftop offered a great view. But sleep was difficult: you could hear road noise and passing cars all night, and the shower water was extremely hot with little ability to adjust it down. There was also a light out in our room. We booked the family room and weren't offered an upgrade, even though other room types were available. The pull-out couch was quite uncomfortable, and we hadn't known it would be used. We were told the room would be arranged for us, but nothing was ready when we first returned. After going out for a walk and coming back a second time, staff were still making it up, so we had to leave again until it was finally ready. Check-in was disappointing and oddly routed: we went through one set of doors only to be turned around toward the opposite area. We used the AMEX FHR Fine hotels and resorts benefit, which includes early check-in (we didn't use it), late checkout (we didn't use it), and breakfast (okay, though many items weren't included?). We were supposed to get 100 euro to spend, but nobody gave us the paper listing the benefits, as is usually done. None of our four key cards were ready, and we had to ask for the rest. I was also charged over $140 at check-in without explanation or notice.

Breakfast was excellent, and the turndown service was a thoughtful touch that made our stay feel special. The hotel was beautiful and inviting, with lovely ambience and careful attention to detail. Every area was spotlessly clean. The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming. Hotel Lungarno was a wonderful experience, and I'd happily stay again.

The breakfast buffet was nice, and I felt very comfortable there. We had to switch rooms because the pipes on one floor were making a lot of noise.

We arrived while dealing with a family emergency, and the staff at Hotel Lungarno took extraordinary care of us. They were kind, helpful, and there for every need. We're forever grateful, especially to Ilaria, Andrea and Sara for all their help during such a stressful time. It's a luxury hotel in a charming part of town, and the food was exceptional. The staff were the standout, though.
