The room was extremely cold, and the cleanliness was unacceptable. The floors were dirty, mirrors, lamps, and towel racks were dusty, and the trash bin lid had built-up grime. The bathroom surfaces and shelves had visible stains and weren’t properly cleaned. Those are only some examples. We emailed the hotel about it, but when we returned that evening, the room still hadn’t been cleaned properly. We raised it with staff again. The cleaner seemed upset when she came the next day. Things improved a little after that, but dust remained on the mirrors and lamps, and there was even toothpaste left on the bathroom counter after cleaning. The location was excellent, and our room faced a beautiful inner courtyard, so it was very quiet with almost no street noise. Still, I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

That angel fresco on the high ceiling was our favorite detail, it made the room feel special. We stayed on the ground floor beside the garden, which was peaceful after our noisy hotel street in Rome. The room was spacious, with a tall window and plenty of room to move around. The bathroom had what we needed, though the shower was a little small. It had both a rainfall head and a hand wand. This is a distinctive place in an old building that’s been renovated into apartments and hotel rooms. Every room is different, and the huge entrance doors open with a motorized pull. Reception is on the third floor; the friendly, helpful receptionist is there from morning until early evening, and someone can be called for emergencies at any time. Ask for room #3 if you want somewhere quiet and quaint with plenty of space.

The bar across the street had live music, which made for a fun evening. Our room was clean, the location was great, and the view from the window was lovely.

The room didn’t look like the photos to me, and I’m not especially high maintenance. It was clean enough, but the walls were scraped up and the bed wasn’t comfortable. I’m not sure how this hotel has such a high rating. Make sure you get clear instructions for entering. The entrance was hard to find on a busy street, and when I finally found it and buzzed, I couldn’t hear.
