La Vigna Dolce di Anna

The location in the heart of the city is lovely, and the apartment itself is nice. It’s on the fourth floor with no elevator, and the kitchen could use some cutlery and basic ingredients. There was just one spoon! Still, the price and location make it worthwhile.

This place was a nightmare. I’m writing this while we’re still in the room, after asking Booking.com to register my complaint. My husband, baby, and I are leaving first thing tomorrow for another hotel. The owner was rude and completely unprofessional, speaking to us as if we were fighting in the street. Don’t book here. We had to pay remotely through a WhatsApp link before check-in. The room is on the third floor, actually the fourth if you count the raised ground floor, and the narrow, sharp, numerous stairs are a struggle. There’s no elevator, which was especially difficult with luggage, a baby, and a pram. The property communicates by WhatsApp texts rather than speaking to you, and they sent the wrong door code. We couldn’t get through by WhatsApp or regular phone, just got “user busy.” We waited 45 minutes outside the locked door, calling every five minutes, with our hot baby needing a diaper change. When we finally reached a woman, maybe Anna, she blamed us for not entering the code correctly instead of apologizing. It was July and 40 degrees. The room had an old fan that looked straight out of the 80s, a small window, a tiny dirty shower right beside the toilet, and a tiny lavabo. I suspect they want payment in advance because people might choose not to stay if they saw the room first.

The room was cozy, inexpensive, and in a very good location, so it gets a point for that. But let’s be honest, this is NOT A HOTEL. We rang the bell at the door and got no answer. We came back an hour later and the same thing happened. We had to call reception and ask someone to come open up. The guy took 15 minutes to arrive and didn’t apologize. Don’t come here expecting any kind of service, there isn’t any!

The city-center location near the cathedral was really good, and almost everything was great. The room light didn’t work, and we had some trouble communicating in English with the person at reception. Still, it was okay overall :)
