Scala Elegant Apartment

The hotel's location was excellent, within walking distance of Florence's major sights and about 5-10 minutes from the streetcar to the airport and train station. My only complaint was the breakfast timing. It starts at 7:30, but over our six-night stay we only managed to eat there three times. Our day tours began between 7:30 and 8, and we had to reach the meeting point 15-20 minutes away, so breakfast at the hotel wasn't practical. We ended up buying coffee and pastries at the train station.

I spent six nights here with my mom, and I know I'll remember the place and come back on another Italy trip. The rooms were spotless and recently renovated, with a beautiful bathroom. The hotel is close to the train station and just a short walk from the duomo. There's a double lock on the main door, which felt secure. Receptionists were very friendly, spoke good English, and patiently let me practice Italian with them. Breakfast was delicious and felt made with care. One of the ladies with curly hair baked different cakes each morning. Her cake with cream, freshly squeezed orange juice, and the round coconut and white chocolate pastry were especially delicious. They even lent me wine glasses and offered a bottle opener so I could enjoy wine at the hotel.

The rooms do what you need, and the bathroom was spotless and very functional. The air conditioning worked, though not consistently. Breakfast was adequate but could be organized better. For the price, the value is good, and I'd consider staying again if management addressed a few details, especially the entrance and elevator. The hotel is ideally located right across from the historic Santa Maria Novella pharmacy. The building is old, and the entrance feels somewhat neglected. The elevator is currently out of service, which makes getting around less convenient.

The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the scent around the place was heavenly. I assume it came from the neighbors' lovely fragrances. The reception and breakfast staff were polite, friendly, and spoke English very well. The hotel felt very safe, with cameras throughout the areas outside the rooms. It's perfectly located for train trips in and out of town. Thanks, Hotel La Scala, for the great hospitality and service.
