Locanda Rocco

The place is in a fantastic central spot, about 400m from the train station, with lots of restaurants and magazines nearby. But the hotel itself was horrible. Nobody answered the bell, and we only got in because a worker let us through. The host was a very strange man. There was no kitchen, just one shared bathroom without towels, shampoo, or soap. You have to rent all those things separately. The place was poorly painted, our room smelled strongly of cigar smoke, the bed was awful, and although Wi-Fi was available, it didn't work at all. Don't expect to check email. They offer a discount for breakfast and lunch at the bar on the corner. It's a shame given the location. Most of the photos seem fake, and the place felt like a hoax. It could be much better, but I don't recommend it. Google wouldn't let me leave zero stars.

We found out from another review that check-in happens at the hotel across the street, which was lucky because that's where we had to go. The rooms were only somewhat clean and pretty bare. There was barely any kitchen space, but that was fine since we weren't planning to cook much. They gave us a key, but it didn't actually lock the door, so we left no valuables in the room.

The location is handy for exploring Florence, but our stay had several problems. There was no hot water, the bedside light didn't work, and the air conditioning was broken. Staff were friendly when we saw them, though they weren't around often.

The room was fairly clean, and the bathroom was too. The best thing about Locanda Roco is the location. There's a bell telling you to ring, but nobody answers. You have to work out the check-in details from reviews or call, then find that check-in and checkout are actually at the hotel in front of the Locanda.
