Opera 19 Luxury Apartment

We’ve enjoyed staying here on several trips to Florence and would happily come back. The location puts you minutes from the Duomo, neighborhood restaurants, and grocery markets, and the area feels especially safe. The apartment is clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated. Both bathrooms are modern and meticulously clean, and the beds and linens are excellent. Check-in is quick and easy, and Carlo is a superb host. There is frequent ambulance noise because the hospital is nearby, though they try not to use sirens late at night. You may also hear street noise at times, so light sleepers should keep that in mind. You’re in the city center, not a Tuscan villa. We had a great time here, including going out for late dinners and drinks at a rooftop bar overlooking the city.

Everything we wanted to see seemed about a 10-minute walk away, and Laura was friendly and helpful. The apartment felt new, clean, and very nice compared with some other places we stayed in Florence. There’s a nearby club with loud music, and the hospital means ambulance sirens are common. I didn’t mind much since I was usually so tired from walking around Florence that I slept fine, but it could bother a light sleeper.

We spent four nights here, close to the Duomo. The check-in and rental process was easy and pleasant. Laura was responsive, met us when we arrived, explained the apartment, and shared lots of helpful ideas for places to eat and see. Carlo, the owner, was prompt at our scheduled checkout and very affable and charming. The apartment is clean, modern, and nicely equipped. There are two bedrooms, one with an en-suite bathroom, plus a second room with two beds. It also has two full bathrooms, a kitchen with dishes and cooking utensils, a small refrigerator, a washer and dryer, and a living room sofa that converts to a bed. Air conditioning is in each living space. Bedding, extra towels, laundry soap, and dishwasher soap were provided. The location has plenty of street noise. Via Sant'Egidio gets very busy in the mornings, and you can hear traffic and people yelling outside late at night. We never heard neighbors, but the apartment definitely isn't soundproof. The hospital is half a block away, and ambulances use this street. They switch off their sirens just after passing the apartment windows. It happens several times a night, which may be too much for some people, though it was less of an issue during the day. There are shops underneath, which is handy for picking up water or small items. One is a small bar that stays open until around 1 a.m. Most nights we could hear music and laughter, and on our last night it was loud until closing, so sleeping was impossible. It’s a small local watering hole rather than a nightclub, and does have its charm, but be ready for the noise. You’re expected to take the rubbish out when you leave. The bins are a few minutes’ walk at the end of the block, and the rubbish is sorted into plastics, paper, food waste, and regular trash. My kids handled it easily. A very clean, nice place in the city center, just be prepared for a fair bit of background street noise.

The apartment was clean, comfortable, and well decorated, with good quality beds and air conditioning in every room. There’s a boiler for hot water, plus a dishwasher and washing machine. Carlo was very friendly, communication was excellent, and everything was well organized. Great location too. I’d gladly stay in this lovely apartment again. 🤩
