The rooms were pleasant, though nothing particularly special, and the price felt fair for the area. Via Cavour is a handy base, within walking distance of many major attractions and Firenze SMN station.

We were in the Magnifico room, where the connected doors meant we could hear our neighbor talking all night. The bathroom was also a problem: the shower was stuck, and its door had been fitted upside down, so water ended up all over the floor. On top of that, a horrible sewer odor came from the kitchen sink. We told reception, but they only sprayed air freshener, and that mixed with the smell made it worse. Our August 2013 stay at Hotel La Venère was very disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend it, despite the generally excellent reviews.

The bathroom is a little small, but it was fine for sleeping there. The location is excellent, about five minutes from the Duomo and ten from the Palazzo Vecchio. I’d gladly stay here again when I return, and highly recommend it.
