Palazzo Bucciolini

We thought the property was beautiful and will definitely return. It’s an ancient 15th-century building in the historic center, across from the Gucci headquarters, with frescoes and coffered walls in the rooms. The classic furnishings work well with the comfortable, welcoming bathrooms, which have been renovated recently. Our one complaint was that the cleaning wasn’t thorough enough for the price or the building.

We loved staying in Palazzo Bucciolini’s 4-room apartment in the summer of 2015. There was loads of room for the whole family, including younger kids, and the Florentine-style furnishings were beautiful. Service was excellent, and we felt very comfortable. The location made it easy to walk to the museums and sights. The neighborhood was pleasant, with a student and alternative feel, a few older residents, and not many tourists. Piazza Spirito Santi, with excellent food, was just around the corner, along with a chic cocktail bar open late.

The apartment has a lovely living room with mythological motifs and a kitchen with all the equipment you need. It’s a great base for the Pitti Palace, Boboli Gardens, Ponte Vecchio, and the important churches of Carmel, Spirito Santo, and Santa Felicita. Shops and several supermarkets are close by, and the hospitality was excellent.

The place was quiet and central, but away from the usual tourist areas, with a lovely garden view and a very fair price. I liked the unique decor, great bathroom, plenty of beds, and friendly landlady. It did feel dark, though, with poor to very poor lighting. The beds and seats weren’t comfortable, and there was a bit of a draft.
